Miles of Smiles

 My thought for the day.

I often forget to stop to and smell the roses. As I am sure most everyone does. I spend so much time stressing over buying a house, car, paying bills and just everyday life that I often forget that I have SO much to be thankful for.  No matter how big the house, how nice the car or clothes, or how many nice things I own, my life would not be complete without my family or my friends.

My favorite bigs playing in the pool. These are my kids and 2 of my best friends kids. Collectively we have 7 kids. That makes for some really big parties :)

Jett turns 1!

Happy 1st Birthday Jett!

Meet Jett!  Isn't He cute!
Jett along with friends and family celebrated his first birthday with hugs, laughter, gifts and of course....... Cake!

Moist Chocolate Cake with buttercream icing!
I was extremely flattered when asked to make this cake for him. A first birthday is a big deal for most moms and dads. It brings back all the wonderful memories for when you child was born.  They grow up so fast!

What's a first party without a smash cake!
Smash cakes are half the fun of a 1st birthday party.  Watching your child dig into a cake of there very own and the mess they make with it. Fun Fun Fun!

Most kids just dive right in and mess it up, but not Jett. He had no interest in getting it on his hands. He had his daddy feed it to him.

Easy clean up for mom!

Death by Chocolate............... what a way to go!

The beginning of a really great thing!

Death by Chocolate cake........ Made with chocolate icing sandwiched between two layers of moist chocolate cake and then smothered with more delicious icing/ frosting. Then decorated with Hershey kisses and a Hershey candy bar to give it a little edge :)

 ...... a piece of cake ;)

I made this cake for my baby brother's birthday. Happy 20th Matt Matt! He has a small obsession with chocolate and I thought since I have already made him a chocolate cake for his birthday the last year that I might want to make this one a little different. I wanted to make a cake as awesome and unique as he is. This is the finished product.  I love suprising my family with made with love! The smiles and chocolate on his face was worth every minute put into this cake. The only missing was the milk.

Just the beginning

As I start this blog I would just like to mention that I am a stay at home mom of 3.  While my husband is off at work, I am with my children. Most days we are just hanging out at our home and on others its off to the grocery store, to the Dentist, to the pediatrician for a check up or just trying to make up our own fun. Might I add that NONE of these activites are easy with 3 kids. At the grocery store I spend at least $50 more due to one of my children in desperate NEED of a certain cereal or etc. Since it is summer and all some of our fun includes swimming. This activity takes us at least 30 minutes of prep time. 1st step...... the hunt for the swim suits, sunscreen, towels, and etc. 2nd step.......... making sure the bigs dress themselves while I dress the little. ( Just so I don't create any confusion, I refer to my older children as the BIGS and my 18 month old as the little ) OK, now its on to step 3. This step includes chasing down the kids as I try to put sunscreen on them. I am sure that I don't have to tell any mother, but by the time this is over I am exhausted. My kids ask me daily  if we can go swimming and when I do reply with no they ask why. UMMMM........ Hello! Because it takes 30 minutes of craziness  thats why!
With all this craziness in my house its a wonder I have anytime for myself, but bedtime for my kids is craft time for momma ;)  Sometimes I am creating a dress, hairbow or something like that for my girls. I feel bad for my son because I haven't found an item of clothing to make for him, but I am pretty sure he has grown out of the monogrammed shirts with little trucks on them. My new crafty love is baking.......... and all the yumminess it intels. I have started baking and decorating them. A skill I taught myself.  One can learn alot from the internet! Just this weekend I made a luau themed cake for my best friends little girl. Might I add it was delicious.  I tried an oreo cream filling for the top tier. OHHHHH, it was heaven in a slice of cake. I am gonna try to post my cake creations. Please fill free to leave comments or suggestions anytime.
